Pet Door Sliding Glass Door

There are many reasons to consider a pet door sliding glass door installation. If you live in an apartment or town home this type of door is recommended because there is no need to modify the doors or walls in any way. You won't have to put holes in anything or even adjust the door frame of your sliding glass door. For these reasons and others pet owners enjoy patio pet doors, and so do their pets. Your pet or pets gain easy access to the outdoors, and can just as easily come back inside.

Patio doors for pets use transparent panes which fit into your current door frame. It provides easy access for your pet while keeping strays and rodents out. You will find both temporary and semi-permanent pet doors for sliding glass applications. Temporary doors are great for pet owners who travel or who don't need the door installed at all times. They are easily installed and removed in minutes with no construction experience necessary.

Semi-permanent doors are more difficult to install and remove. They are screwed into place and have a lock unit. They are also completely removable, but the process is a bit more involved than with a temporary door. Both temporary and semi-permanent doors for pets come in a variety of sizes, so make sure you have both the measurements of your pet and your sliding glass door handy. It is important that the pet door fit into your sliding glass door frame and that your dog or cat can fit through the door opening.

Most pet door sliding glass door models easily fit into the bottom of your sliding glass door frame while the spring loaded top adjusts to the height of your door frame. After you've installed the pet door the next step is training your pet to use it. The popularity of these doors shows the willingness of most pets to use them. It may take a few training sessions but before you know it your dog or cat will be using their door like a pro. Once they know how, you'll surely appreciate the convenience of not having to let your pet in and out all the time because now they can do it themselves!
